Camera-mountable Surround Microphone Recognized As Industry Innovator

TORONTO, ONTARIO, MAY 19, 2006 Holophone's ® innovative H4 SuperMINI, the world's first camera-mountable 5.1 channel surround microphone, was recently selected to receive a Broadcast Engineering's NAB Pick Hit Award for its innovation to the broadcast industry. The H4 SuperMINI made its debut at NAB 2006.

As Broadcast Engineering's panel of independent judges toured the exhibition floor looking for ground-breaking technology, the H4 SuperMINI stood out as a cost-effective solution offering significant technological advancements to broadcast facilities.

"When Holophone set out to design the state-of-the-art H4 SuperMINI, we were looking for a way to capture surround sound that is easy to use and provides superior sound reproduction," comments Jonathan Godfrey, CEO of Holophone. With six microphone elements, a matrix encoded stereo analog output, and six line-level analog outputs, the SuperMINI eliminates the need for costly and complex surround mixing and editing. In addition, the SuperMINI includes an audio zoom button, which increases the forward bias of the pick-up pattern. Other features include a virtual surround headphone for live instantaneous monitoring of the surround field, an auxiliary center channel microphone input (XLR) for attaching an external shotgun microphone, and an intuitive tri-colored LED Holophone monitor that indicates sound level and direction.

The Broadcast Engineering NAB Pick Hit Awards are the longest-running product awards for broadcast and production technology. For over 20 years, Broadcast Engineering has been acknowledging products that have set to change the industry. Broadcast Engineering's editors and publisher have no input in the selection process.
